Aon Actuarial Consulting – Pensions Summer Internship 2019
Locations: Bristol, Birmingham, Farnborough, Epsom, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, St Albans
Few things are certain in life. But you can be sure that a paid Summer Internship with Aon will give you a 100% chance of improving your prospects – as well as some invaluable experience besides.
We are a professional services organisation of incredible scope and scale. We help the biggest names in business plan for every eventuality – we’re the world’s #1 insurance broker, the #1 provider of reinsurance, the #1 provider of investment consulting and the #1 provider of human capital consulting.
UK companies presently have over £2.5 billion invested in pension schemes, more than the rest of Europe put together. That’s a breathtaking sum, but the question remains whether individual companies have set aside enough to meet their pensions’ obligations 20, 30 or even 40 years down the line. People are living longer than ever before and the recent economic turmoil has demonstrated that those who manage pension schemes cannot always rely on good investment returns to help meet the costs of the benefits promised.
A market leader in actuarial consulting, Aon has been advising companies and trustees on their pension schemes for over sixty years. Our actuarial consultants specialise in advising our clients on those schemes to help them manage the associated financial and operational risks, now and in the future.
You can apply to an internship programme in this area which will last for nine weeks over the summer or an Industrial Placement year that last for 12 months. This will help to give you a feel for our culture and the opportunity to take on real responsibilities and contribute to our business. You’ll be assigned a mentor to guide you through the placement, while full technical training and business skills development will give you an understanding of the professional services world. In line with our Corporate Social Responsibility policies, we’ll also challenge you to make a difference. You’ll be involved in group charity projects that help local communities which will allow you to demonstrate your ability to work with clients, as well as develop team working and communication skills.
Although an internship or placement year does not guarantee a place on our Graduate Programme, many of our candidates go on to a successful career with us, as you will be automatically considered for the Graduate Programme, with no further assessment required.
To apply for this stream, you must be educated to degree level with a 2:1 or equivalent qualification in a numerate/semi-numerate discipline. Strong commercial awareness, lots of ambition and an enthusiastic approach are also important.
If you’re looking for a sure-fire way to improve your career prospects, don’t leave your future to chance, apply now!
