    Claims Advocate (Chelmsford, UK)

     

    We're hiring!

     

    We are currently looking to recruit a motivated Claims Advocate to join our team in Chelmsford.  Within this role you will primarily be responsible for providing claims support for the UK Professional Services Group and the Aon National team, placing insurance for Professionals both on facilities and into the London Market.  You will work closely with colleagues throughout the Aon network, providing advice and claims settlement solutions for our clients.

     

    Our ideal candidate is someone who proactively finds solutions to claims issues, has experience in the London market, has existing insurer relationships, and understands a variety of policies including: Professional Indemnity insurance for a variety of professions, Directors & Officers, General Liability, Cyber, Office insurance and more.  

      

    About the role

     

    Within this role, your responsibilities will include:  

    • Manage large or contentious claims and facilitate the resolution of coverage issues
    • Mediate between insurers, lawyers, adjusters and claimants at face to face meetings
    • Negotiate the settlement, collection and payment of claims with clients and underwriters
    • Provide guidance on coverage issues and pre and post loss claims to clients and/or the branch network.
    • Provide guidance on notifiable circumstances and block notifications
    • Report on underwriter performance and insurers’ willingness to pay
    • Report to the business on claims trends, new and emerging risks, and reasons why claims are declined
    • Attend pre-renewal client meetings and assist with new business tenders and presentations
    • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of policy wordings, carry out wording reviews, and drive enhancements to existing products working with brokers to influence the market
    • Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of legal developments, case law and industry-wide issues that impact on claims
    • Assist with the production and analysis of claims MI for the business
    • Provide risk and claims profiling for both clients and the business
    • Complaints handling and E&O investigation and resolution


    About you 

     

    Your knowledge and expertise will ideally include: 

    • Prior knowledge of Professional Indemnity claims, preferably with a construction bias
    • Excellent client relationship management ability and exceptional customer service skills
    • Ability to work on own initiative as well as in a team environment, leading and supporting other team members
    • An organised and self-motivated approach, and achievement and results focused
    • IT literate, in particular: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, databases
