    Aon are currently recruiting a Canadian Broker to join our team in London. The Canadian Broker will be primarily responsible for providing advices on reinsurance deals and expert advices on placement design and strategy whilst influencing the market in order to secure the best deals.

    About the Role

     

    Your impact as a Canadian Broker:

    • Tailoring and implementing agreed strategy for broking
    • Solid understanding of property and casualty reinsurance deals and providing advice to clients and colleagues on placement design, available coverage and capacity, likely pricing, potential coverage enhancements and market progress
    • Identifying appropriate channels for risk placement based on clients’ market security guidelines and other requirements, exerting influence on the market in order to secure the best deals
    • Negotiating terms and conditions of placement
    • Being responsible for working in accordance with the Risk Management Framework, and compliance with company policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company

     

    About you

     

    Your knowledge and expertise:

     

     

     

    • Being able to take a comprehensive, macro approach to Canadian clients/sector – understands the broader issues affecting clients
    • Having an excellent reputation in the insurance/reinsurance market.
    • Working as a team member on a portfolio of Canadian property, casualty, surety and multi-lines accounts
    • Regularly acting as “expert” in client meetings explaining the broking approach and value of the approach
    • Developing influential relationships with reinsurers and clients and recognizes the impact of damaging one on revenue
    • Presenting strong analytical skills, comfortable with Cat models and actuarial pricing
    • Inspiring commitment and action in others (both internally and externally) through strong communication skills
    • Considering the underwriter’s perspective in order to adapt approach
    • Focusing on increasing fee income
    • Setting clear quality standards and signs off as appropriate
    • Working to drive duplication out of the business – uses resources effectively
