About the Role
Your impact as a Legal Advisor:
We are looking for a qualified lawyer who has a proven background in commercial contracting to join our UK-based team of lawyers. This role covers commercial contract support, along with some involvement in business-led projects. The candidate should be experienced in working for the "sell-side" of a service provider and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
Reflecting the international nature of the client-base, Aon supports its clients on a local, regional and global basis and therefore we will expect the individual to be able to lead, as well as work closely with other legal subject matter and jurisdictional experts. The commercial contracting requirements reflect the client structures, which includes a need to negotiate with a client's internal/external counsel across a range of documents, products and services. The role will get exposure to a range of contracting matters that will vary in complexity, including:
- Working on a range of different service offerings including regulated services, specialist consulting and technology solutions (including SAAS) and outsourcing;
- Drafting and negotiating transactional client contracting matters, including negotiating both Aon and client contracting paper with client lawyers (or external counsel);
- Conducting complex contract negotiations, including some of a multi-jurisdictional nature; Reviewing contracts and other legal documentation, assessing associated risks and advising the business;
- Working with other teams within legal and compliance (e.g. data privacy, compliance) as required;
- Development and improvement of Aon's existing contract documentation; and
- Helping to supervise a trainee solicitor on secondment and offshore resource.
In addition to the above, the role will require some involvement in projects related to the development of new Aon products and services, as well as maintaining and delivering on-going legal training to internal clients.

An ability to manage a number of transactions simultaneously is essential, as are excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical ‘jargon’ clearly and articulately into credible ‘every day speak.’ It is important candidates understand their ability to impact upon client relationship, therefore a consultative approach to negotiations is vital.
