Aon Benfield is currently recruiting a Catastrophe Modeller / Technical Exposure Broker to join our ReSolutions team in London. 

Aon Benfield's Catastrophe Modelling team is highly respected in the marketplace. The team provides clients (principally insurance companies) with advice on their exposures to natural disasters, such as windstorms, floods and earthquakes.


Aon’s ReSolutions Team


Aon’s ReSolutions team assist clients in structuring facilities, delegated underwriting solutions and enterprise underwriting structures that efficiently deliver capital on a consistent, long term and cost effective basis.

Working across the Aon’s Risk business, ReSolutions is a multidisciplinary team which is able to deliver end-to-end delegated underwriting and capacity solutions to our clients.

In order to present underwriting propositions to markets using sophisticated models, the team analyses the financial loss potential from thousands of possible catastrophes. The output is then used to provide information on catastrophe exposure, and enables ReSolutions to design the optimum structure for the facility or delegated underwriting product.

The team’s work helps insurers understand the portfolio and potential losses from a given catastrophic event. The analysis and recommendations we provide enable us to build products which are tailored to the needs of our clients.

About the Role


As a Catastrophe Modeller / Technical Broker some of your key responsibilities will involve:


Key Accountabilities:

  • Providing analytical support to placing team with client meetings, presentations, market studies, tenders and reports Catastrophe modelling supporting Client Treaty and ReSolutions Facility Solutions Running natural catastrophe models to quantify the likelihood and severity of natural catastrophes;
  • Development of risk models;
  • Liaise with actuaries to structure and develop analytic solutions to portfolio solutions driven by market and client need;
  • Revision of existing risk models and design, develop and execute new models
  • Responsibility for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited’s Risk Management Framework and compliance with the Aon UK Limited’s policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.

About you


As a Catastrophe Modeller your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  • Must have proven relevant experience in catastrophe modelling
  • Be able to trouble shoot problems, communicate results and associated model methodology to clients, brokers, and colleagues, as required
  • Ability to work as part of a team to support clients' needs
  • Working knowledge of RMS and / or AIR is desirable;
  • GIS experience also of major benefit;
  • Exposure to GIS Software is desirable e.g.:(MapInfo, ArcGIS)
