    Business Development Executive – Corporate Risks

    Aon National are currently recruiting a Business Development Executive to join our Corporate team in Birmingham.   The primary responsibility of the role is to initiate, build and strengthen relationships with new clients by delivering the desired client experience and value proposition.

    About Aon National


    National provides risk solutions to businesses across a large number of sectors within the UK. Typically, clients will be either a national or a multinational company, with a presence in no more than 10 overseas territories; they will be looking for a local relationship with their broker, with face to face visits. When working with a client, the National team tends to deal directly at executive level, including CEOs and CFOs.


    National clients typically require bespoke insurance programmes and associated risk management and risk transfer services. Besides being the insurance broker, National provides clients with a claims service and advice on risk management.


    The National team works with businesses from across most industries, with specialisms in real estate, public sector, food and drink and retail and wholesale.


     As a Business Development Executive your main responsibilities will involve:

    • Accountability for account planning for all prospects and co-ordinate all prospect activity
    • Articulating the sales plan
    • A full understanding and ability to articulate the value delivered by Aon and effectively lead remuneration negotiations
    • Actively building relationships across Aon and exploit cross selling opportunities
    • Effective analysis driven risk financing strategy, including program design and marketing, with prospects to meet their needs where appropriate
    • Managing the sales process
    • Understanding the prospect their industry and their risks
    • Understanding the client need and matching them with Aon Solutions
    • Contributing to the team’s sales strategy
    • Effectively using Salesforce.com to manage pipeline and opportunities
    • Developing and maintaining effective prospect relationships using best practice sales techniques
    • Accountability for adherences to business processes, systems and procedures
    • Responsible for compliance with regulatory requirements and business procedures (including usage of salesforce.com, GRIP, Ri3k/applicable trading platforms and application of Aon insurer security policies where relevant)
    • Responsible for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company

     As a Business Development Manager your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

    • Strong Client Management relationship skills
    • Technical commercial insurance knowledge
    • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong business acumen
    • Proven background in Business Development
    • Strong technical commercial insurance knowledge, across all major classes
    • Ability to use insurance industry IT systems to efficiently deliver client service
    • Good understanding of compliance and FCA regulation
