Aon are currently recruiting an Associate Pensions Consultant to join our team in Bristol.


The Associate Pensions Consultant will be primarily responsible for:


  • Reporting to the Pensions Manager, the role of the Senior Pensions Administrator / Associate Pension Transfer Consultant is to provide office based support within a team environment in the day to day processing of pension plans from one source to another including the setting up and maintenance of internal systems.
  • The incumbent will have to liaise with Consultants, Insurance Providers, clients and deal with other Team queries as they arise and are expected to have the skills and knowledge to understand what actions are required to meet the expectations of all parties.
  • Part of the role will mean that the Pensions Consultant is required to deal with BBT Telephone calls and assist in making and receiving telephone calls for the Annuity Support Team.
  • As part of a Team, the Consultant is expected to provide support for colleagues as and when required.
  • The job holder will also be responsible for adhering to compliance standards, fulfilling regulatory requirements of the FCA and adherence to company procedures.

About the Role


As a Senior Pensions Consultant some of your key responsibilities will involve:


·         Action any queries received by post, email and telephone.

·         Carry out scanning and filing as required.

·         As and when new business has been secured setup appropriately on systems. Check and monitor data to ensure that information is accurate and complete. Resolve any identified discrepancies in documentation that is received.

·         Escalate more complex queries to Pensions Manager to gain advice and guidance as appropriate.

·         Arrange for the preparation of letters to providers using templates and adjusting as appropriate (Letters of Authority, projection requests).

·         Maintain and monitor the diary system to ensure all cases are chased and monitored according to process timescales.

·         Prepare suitability reports for checking based upon research and using analysis tools.

·         Assist the BBT Admin Team in answer client queries via telephone, Webchat or email. Provide support for the Annuity Team to ensure calls are dealt with within Service Level Agreements and maintain a relevant consistency score of 70% or above after checking.

·         Maintain knowledge and complete and pass all relevant Aon University courses.

  • Responsible for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.


About you


As a Associate Pensions Consultant your skills and qualifications will ideally include:


Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Fully competent in Word or Excel to an intermediate standard is desirable.
  • Experienced in the use of databases preferred.
  • Well-developed literacy essential.
  • Knowledge of financial services industry with particular emphasis on Pension products/ Pension Administration
  • Well developed communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads.
  • Punctual and self organised, ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Attention to detail.



  • Educated to GSCE level or equivalent


Professional Qualifications

  • Financial Services exams preferred but not mandatory.
