We’re hiring!

 

We are currently looking to recruit a Marine Underwriter for our Chelmsford office.

 

As a Marine Underwriter you will be responsible for underwriting Marine business in accordance with delegated underwriting authority, developing excellent working relationship with carriers, promoting and develop products and services and supporting the Senior Underwriter and Marine Underwriting Manager in achieving the business plan/budget.

About the Role

 

Your key responsibilities will involve;

 

Provide quotations for renewals, new business and alterations within delegated underwriting authority and with referral to Senior Underwriter and /or the carrier as required.

Maintain relationships with ARS at Client Service Advisor level and ensure that acceptable service standards are met.

Assist with the personal development of junior underwriting staff and input into guidance and training on technical underwriting issues.

Build strong relationships with carriers to deliver the underwriting strategy.

Maintain a high level of technical knowledge and input into technical and commercial market intelligence.

Deputise for the Senior Marine Underwriter as required.

Work with internal and external parties in the development of the company’s business as directed.

 

About you

 

As a Marine Underwriter your skills and qualifications will include;

 

Proven track record in technical Cargo/Freight or Hull underwriting.

Underwriting experience in relevant products with a recognised insurer.

Able to establish and maintain relationships with brokers and carriers.

Team player / team-building ability.

Good level of technical knowledge.

Ability to achieve enquiry targets.

Effective communicator, both written and oral.

You will be responsible for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.
