Executive Claims Advocacy Practice Leader

Aon are currently recruiting a Executive Claims Advocacy Practice Leader to join our team in London. The Executive Claims Advocacy Practice Leader will be primarily responsible for:

 

• At the placing stage, assisting clients and colleagues to achieve clarity in the way risks are described and presented to the market and policy wordings are produced, as well as sharing knowledge on the interpretation of coverage in order to minimize disputes

• At the claims stage, providing advice to and managing client expectations in terms of coverage, as well as supporting the presentation of complex and high value claims to reinsurers

• Setting and managing the strategy, in collaboration with the assigned Claims Advocate, for the negotiation of complex and contentious claims with reinsurers in order to obtain the best possible outcomes for Aon’s clients

• Managing special and highly complex assignments/projects requiring specialized legal and technical claims expertise

• Horizon spotting in order to identify and address emerging or potentially contentious reinsurance issues that might impact Aon or its clients

• Supporting clients and colleagues on the practical implications of changes brought about by new case law and new statutory legal regimes, such as the Insurance Act 2015 and Damages for the Late Payment of Claims under the Enterprise Act 2016.

 

As a key member of the Client Services Executive Team, the Practice Leader will:

 

• Act as an ambassador of the Aon Benfield’s Client Services division by developing, promoting and selling Aon’s abilities to provide market leading specialized claims services. This will involve supporting written proposals as well as face to face meetings

• Contribute to all relevant business initiatives as well as the development of new products and services for internal and external clients

• Champion Aon’s claims services both with current and future clients and in relation to bids and tenders, and look for opportunities to increase revenue

build and maintain a close working relationship with senior leaders and stakeholders, escalating issues as appropriate

• Develop a network of relationships in the market by engaging in face to face discussions and negotiations with clients and reinsurers

assist in the resolution of potential E&Os and promote lessons learned in order to prevent future recurrence

• Provide thought leadership, guidance, assistance and training to colleagues in all areas of reinsurance.

As a Executive Claims Advocacy Practice Leader some of your key responsibilities will involve:

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

• Highly specialised claims advocacy

• Provide expert and highly specialized advocacy service prior and post claims notification.

• Act as a focal point and support to the client and the claims advocacy unit for contentious, complex or high profile losses

• Apply depth of product, industry and market knowledge to assist the client and the claims advocacy unit in the presentation, negotiation and resolution of highly complex and contentious claims

• Analyse and review coverage issues in order to advise clients and colleagues.

• Provide support to facilitate and run mediation meetings with clients, underwriters and other interested parties as appropriate

• Build and develop strong relationships with clients, market and business partners.

• Industry expert

• Act as a key contact point for clients and colleagues for the area of expertise.

• Manage special and highly complex assignments/projects requiring specialized and technical claims knowledge

• Identify and feedback claims trends and development and their potential impact.

• Contribute to the development of Aon Benfield’s thought leadership and translate that into tangible form at industry seminars and conferences

• Provision of risk management advice to clients and the network, including review of clients own documentation and policies where appropriate

• Technical and specialist support for pre-renewal meetings, placing and renewal negotiations.

• Training

• Provision of technical training to Aon staff and to clients, in particular in relation to coverage issues, claims trends, market developments and risk management strategies

• Business development

• Lead research and development on new wordings and products in order to create market leading products

• Responsibility for selling Aon’s claims services to existing and potential clients, including the ability to present at pitches and deliver briefings at prospect and client meetings

• Ability to increase new revenue opportunities and support client service strategy

• Contentious claims and E&O management

• Manage potential E&O incidents to a satisfactory conclusion, ensuring any lessons learnt are implemented and disseminated in order to prevent possible recurrence.

 

Leadership and People Management

 

• At all times act as a role model of the ALM and as an ambassador of Aon Compliance with regulatory requirements and business procedures

• Responsible for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company

• Ensure all FCA regulations and internal compliance requirements are adhered to in a timely manner

• Promote all compliance related requirements throughout the area and identify opportunities for process improvement

• Ensure all agreed practices and tools are actively and consistently applied

• Lead by example by ensuring own activity complies with regulatory requirements and business procedures.

 

Communication

 

• Ensure effective communication is in place with colleagues, clients, the AB network and markets

• Any other tasks that Aon reasonably requires

• Responsible for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company
