    Aon Hewitt are currently recruiting a Lawyer to join our team where you will be based in London. Epsom or Home. We are looking for a mid-level, qualified lawyer with an Investment background or a commercial / regulatory background to join our UK team of lawyers. The Lawyer will report into Senior Counsel and be primarily responsible for supporting our delegated consulting business.

     

    Supporting Senior Counsel in reviewing, identifying and advising on key legal and risk matters relating to the growth of our fiduciary management / asset management business in UK and the rest of EMEA.  

    The role will get exposure to a range of legal matters that will vary in complexity and is a great opportunity to work closely with a business that is aggressively growing its assets under management.

    About the Role

     

    As a Legal Advisor some of your key responsibilities will involve:

    • ability to negotiate Investment Management Agreements and other ancillary documentation
    • knowledge of the more common fund structures in the region
    • ability to review and negotiate fund fee/rebate side letters/agreements
    • familiarity with AIFMD and/or MiFID regulations
    • working with external counsel in order to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations; and
    • working with the Aon Hewitt central regulatory compliance function.
    • Responsible for working in accordance with the Aon’s risk management framework, and compliance with the Aon policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.
    • Assisting Senior Counsel in legal project work including, advising on key legal and governance matters relating to the effective running of the investment aspects of various pension products that Aon is developing in Europe.  Such products include Master Trust, GPP, IORP and other such pension products. Experience of these is desirable but not essential.

    About you

     

    As a Legal Advisor your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

    • Qualified lawyer (whether in the UK or abroad) or equivalent with good experience in a regulatory  investment environment.
    • Degree educated or equivalent
    • Strong drafting and interpersonal skills
    • High level of integrity and professionalism
    • Excellent time management, organisation and prioritisation skills
    • Self-starter and enthusiasm to learn about new areas ;
